Construction Line Edit ( Modeling or Drawing Editor > c e )

Tool summary :

  • Opens a window that lets you change the color and other attributes of construction lines that you select.
  • Applying a different color is useful if you have a lot of construction lines on screen and want to distinguish one construction line from another in order to make sure that you locate the correct point.
  • To edit a construction line with a double-click , first set the Selection Filter to ' Construction Lines ' or ' All ' or some other filter that allows the selection of construction lines.

   Step-by-step instructions :

You must do either step 1b (preselection) or step 3 (in-tool selection) to perform this operation.

1 . Before using this tool:

1a (required to do 1b) : Set the Selection Filter to ' Construction Lines ' or some other filter that allows the selection of construction lines.

Select Items bindings (step 1b)

1b (optional) : In Select Items mode, select on or more construction lines. To select multiple construction lines, you can draw an area box , or you can hold down the Shift key and left-click ( Select + ) on each construction line.

Tip: To edit one construction line at a time, set the selection filter to ' Construction Lines ', then double-click .

2 . Invoke Edit Construction Line using any one (1) of the following methods:

Method 1 : Click the Construction Line Edit icon, which is pictured above. The icon can be taken from the group named ' Model -- Construction Lines ' ( Modeling ) or ' Objects -- Construction Lines ' ( Drawing Editor ) and placed on a toolbar (classic) or the ribbon (lightning).

Method 2 : If " Modeling layout style " is ' Classic ', you can use the menu system to choose Model > Construction Lines > Edit . When " Drawing Editor layout style " is ' Classic ', choose Objects > Construction Lines > Edit .

Method 3, 4 or 5 : Edit Construction Lines can also be configured to be invoked using a keyboard shortcut , the context menu , or a mode . For the lightning interface, this configuration is done using Customize Interface . The default keyboard shortcut for Edit Construction Lines is c e .

Method 6 : With Construction Line Mode mouse bindings active, left-click ( Edit ).

3 . Skip this step if you already selected construction lines in step 1b.

Select Item(s) bindings

3a (if you didn't preselect) : Edit Construction Line prompts you to use Select Item(s) mouse bindings to select the construction line(s) you want. To select multiple construction lines, you can draw an area box , or you can hold down the Shift key and left-click ( Select + ) on each construction line. When you are done selecting the construction line(s), press the Enter key, or right-click ( Menu ) and choose " OK " on the menu.

Alternative: Instead of doing step 3a, you can press the Esc key to cancel.

4 . The Construction Line Edit window opens. On it are the settings of the selected construction line(s). Please note that since construction lines are not plotted, the options on this window only affect their display on your computer screen. Some of these options are available in the Drawing Editor only.

VCR buttons, Drawing Editor
selects (by number) another construction line for editing when you opened this window by selecting only one construction line.

4a : Change the settings of the selected construction line(s) (for example, their display color). Note that if you selected a single construction line you can use the VCR buttons to edit more than one construction line. Press the " OK " button on the bottom of the window when you are done. Go to step 5.

5 . The construction line(s) are redrawn per edits made on the Construction Line Edit window. The mouse bindings that were active before you invoked Edit Construction Line are again active.

Note: At this point (in the Drawing Editor only), you can still Undo your changes.
